Troubleshooting Common Issues
Having trouble? Let's get it sorted out. Here are solutions to the most common problems.
Problem: The site says "No downloadable media found" or "Invalid URL".
This is the most common issue and usually has a simple fix:
- Check the URL: Make sure you have copied the full, correct URL of the tweet. Even a small typo will cause an error.
- The Tweet is Private: Our tool can only access public tweets. If the user's account has a lock icon next to their name, their tweets are private and cannot be downloaded.
- The Tweet was Deleted: If the tweet has been removed by the user or Twitter, the link will no longer work.
- It's a "Fleet" or "Story": Our tool does not support downloading from Twitter's expired "Fleets" feature.
Problem: I click download, but the file fails or doesn't start.
This can be related to your browser or network:
- Check your Internet Connection: A weak or unstable connection can interrupt large downloads.
- Disable Browser Extensions: Ad-blockers or other privacy extensions can sometimes interfere with file downloads. Try temporarily disabling them for our site.
- Try a Different Browser: Occasionally, a browser bug can cause issues. Try downloading with a different browser like Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.
Problem: The ZIP file I downloaded is empty or corrupted.
Your `download.php` code includes a great feature: a `_download_report.txt` file inside the ZIP. This is the key to solving this issue.
- Check the Report: Open the ZIP file and look for a text file named
_download_report.txt. This file will list which files failed to download and why, often due to a temporary server error on Twitter's end. - Reduce Batch Size: Creating a ZIP of many large video files takes time. If your connection is slow, try downloading fewer links at once.
Problem: The QR Code isn't working or the link has expired.
Your site's QR code functionality is session-based and has a time limit for security.
- Links Expire After 24 Hours: For security and storage reasons, a generated QR code link is only valid for 24 hours. If it has expired, simply return to the main page and paste the tweet URL again to generate a new download session and a new QR code.
- Check Your Phone's Connection: Your mobile device needs an active internet connection to download the file after scanning the code.
